Vegetarian Cookbooks – Quick-Fix Vegetarian: Healthy Home-Cooked Meals in 30 Minutes or Less
Of all the vegetarian cookbooks Robin Robertson has written (and she as written 20) this would have to be one of her most practical. The recipes are healthy, nutritious, easy, and most importantly quick. In fact most of these recipes can be made and on the table in less time than it takes to deliver a pizza. This vegetarian cookbook is the answer for busy families who are looking for healthy food, fast.
Before Robin Robertson began writing vegetarian cookbooks, she was a restaurant chef and cooking teacher. When she left the restaurant business in the late 1980s, Robin became vegan for ethical reasons. Over the years, she has fine-tuned her plant-based diet into an eclectic and healthful cooking style which she thinks of as a creative adventure with an emphasis on the vibrant flavors of global cuisines and fresh ingredients. In addition to writing cookbooks, Robin writes ‘The Global Vegan’ column for VegNews Magazine.
This Vegetarian Cookbooks “30 minutes or less” claim is mostly true but some of the recipes take about 30 minutes to prepare before cooking. However the meals are still very quick to make. Unlike a lot of other vegetarian cookbooks, the recipes in this book work as stated; no guesswork or tweaking needed. Really delicious. There is one recipe per page. It’s easy to read and refer to. The recipes are mostly easy, not too many ingredients, but lots of flavor.
The only negative is the lack of pictures. I think its always nice to see what the finished product looks like before I begin to cook. It’s also nice flipping through the pictures to see what appeals and to decide what to cook.
I think this is a great first vegetarian cookbook for those wanting to switched to a vegetarian diet. Many people who owne this book say that it was the first vegetarian cookbook they purchased when becoming vegetarian and still go to this cookbook at least once a week to look up recipes, or even ideas for a different meal to make. The say their pages are torn, covered in food stains and have dog-ears all over the place!
As far as vegetarian cookbooks go this one gets a big thumbs up from me. I love it. The flavors in the recipes are amazing.
